Dr. Celso Charuri Vocational School Donated in Argentina
“I don’t know what divine force, I don’t know who sent us this miracle (…). Magical things happen in the world, don’t you think?”
— Federico Achával, Mayor of Pilar
“The truth is – this is no miracle. It is simply men and women who believe that it is possible for this planet to become, one day, a better planet.”
— Marcelo Landolfo, on behalf of the Central del Diezmo de Argentina (Center for the Tithe of Argentina)
The project for the construction and donation of Dr. Celso Charuri Vocational Schools has expanded beyond Brazil’s borders and has now reached Argentina. The 16th unit of the project was opened in the city of Pilar, in the province of Buenos Aires, and was named Escuela Técnica No. 4 Dr. Celso Charuri. The objective is to create opportunities for young people to learn a profession, work to achieve a better life, and also contribute to society. The Donation Ceremony was held on March 8 by Central del Diezmo PRÓ-VIDA (CD-PV) de Argentina.
A partnership was established with the City Council in Pilar, enabling the operation of a public institution with the capacity to serve 600 students. The donation of this and other vocational schools expresses Dr. Celso’s ideal of building a Much Better World. According to him, the environment we live in is the result of the conduct of human beings. Therefore, happier people will turn society into a happier place.
“May this school embrace children and teenagers, embrace their projects, dreams, and their desire to grow and improve,” said Marcelo Landolfo, representative of Central del Diezmo de Argentina.
Students will be trained in renewable energy and knowledge management, in partnership with the University of Pilar, allowing them to enter the job market in a region that hosts one of the largest industrial parks in Latin America, as well as continue their academic education at higher levels, according to local authorities.
“On Monday, students will walk in, read the name [of the school], and ask, ‘Who is this [Dr. Celso]?’ I have a responsibility, and you don’t know what a relief it was for me to understand that what predominates in PRÓ-VIDA is precisely the teaching participants have received for so many years which has influenced the world for the good: a look of solidarity, of placing awareness, heart, and love toward those who need it most; knowing that this is not just something to be said, but must be carried out as an action by each of us. This is a profound teaching for this moment in the world,” said Federico Achával, Mayor of Pilar.
The school was built on a 4,700-square-meter plot of land, with 1,710 square meters of covered area, including a workshop, a physical chemistry laboratory, computer rooms, classrooms, a multipurpose hall, administrative offices, a cafeteria, a machine room, and other facilities. There is also a multipurpose sports court. The project incorporated accessibility and sustainability concepts, taking advantage of sunlight and a wastewater treatment station.
The first Dr. Celso Charuri Vocational School was donated in 1981, in Brazil, as part of a project that integrates the actions of Centers for the Tithe PRÓ-VIDA. For over 45 years, they have been carrying out social responsibility work across the world, seeking to set the example taught by Dr. Celso, of how it’s possible to achieve greater justice, goodness, and peace in the world.
