Donations benefit 99 institutions in Brazil
Thousands of items were donated to 99 institutions, in 16 Brazilian states, by the Central Geral do Dízimo – PRÓ-VIDA (General Center for the Tithe – PRÓ-VIDA) and its affiliates in Brazil. The Donation Ceremony took place on March 13 at PRÓ-VIDA headquarters in Sao Paulo and was transmitted live on line. “We show what we do to set an example”, said Alvaro Schocair de Souza Filho, a representative of CGD-PV. What example did he refer to?
He referred to the teaching of the conceiver and founder of PRÓ-VIDA, Dr. Celso Charuri: the environment is a product of man therefore, we need to have better people if we want a better world. “He (Dr. Celso) proposed to do this, showed the way, set the example, founded PRÓ-VIDA with the objective of improving man (…) through mental training and development so that man could expand their consciousness”, he said. After a while, with an expanded consciousness, people will naturally be able to recognize their responsibility in the environment and act for its benefit.
Act how? What kind of action? It’s simple: those who have give to those who don’t. A just, generous law, The Law of the Tithe, which was implemented by Dr. Celso with the foundation of CGD-PV in 1979. Since then, donations have been made in Brazil and many other countries, including the construction of vocational schools.
“
“Why all this? Because we strongly believe in the improvement of human beings, and an improved man, a better man, will never abandon his fellow.”
said Alvaro in his speech, representing CGD-PV
Donations
The 99 philanthropic and vocational institutions benefited during this ceremony serve approximately 32 thousand people in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Ceará, and Rio Grande do Norte.
“If we make even a small donation, donating 10% of the Tithe, of our time, care, love, affection (…), I’m sure that we will become better people”, said Rodrigo Alberto de Lima, a representative of Sociedade de Amigos Restaurando Vidas (Society of Friends Restoring Lives), from São Vicente.
Vehicles, healthcare equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers, industrial equipment, household appliances, pedagogical, recreational, and sports materials, furniture, construction materials, and hundreds of items of musical instruments, computers, woodworking, gardening, and sewing were donated.
“We can’t help but thank Dr. Celso Charuri because without him, this wouldn’t exist. (…) I’m deeply thankful for all these people who are part of our journey and may this be repeated many, many, many times (sic.), because man deserves to be happy”, said Laura Helena Dale Franco, representative of Grupo de Apoio ao Indivíduo com Autismo (Support Group for Individuals with Autism), from São José dos Campos.
