Donation Ceremony in Araçoiaba da Serra/SP
On Saturday, April 3, 2021, a donation ceremony of CGD-PV (The General Center for the Tithe PRÓ-VIDA) took place in the city of Araçoiaba da Serra, in São Paulo (Brazil). This action benefited the municipal project of transforming A Basic Health Unit (UBS) into an Advanced Service Center for Covid-19 patients. The event took place in the auditorium of the PRÓ-VIDA Club of Araçoiaba and was transmitted live to thousands of people around the world.
Sandra Prado read the Donation Letter, talked about the actual moment of the planet and told the history of CGD-PV, created by Dr. Celso Charuri. At the end, she said that
“
“even though this donation doesn’t claim to fulfill all the necessities of the municipality, it expresses the responsibility and commitment of PRÓ-VIDA Movement participants towards their peers.”
– Sandra Prado
In his speech, the mayor Dr. José Carlos de Quevedo Junior gave thanks for the donation, for the affection and, above all, for the agility with which the municipality’s request was attended.
“
“The world has been through difficult times; it’s no different with our country, with our state, with our city. But what reinvigorates us, strengthens us and gives us encouragement to continue fighting is the support received in this moment from PRÓ-VIDA, and this will, beyond a shadow of a doubt, reflect in lives not lost in our city.”
– José Carlos de Quevedo Junior
For PRÓ-VIDA, Felipe Salgado gave thanks for the privilege of donating that Araçoiaba provided and ended the ceremony saying that
“
“We in PRÓ-VIDA, we have a purpose that gives our lives a reason. And we are going to walk towards this purpose, working to achieve it, day after day, step by step, convinced of the path we are following. And we will not rest until a Much Better World is definitively established on the face of the Earth.”
– Felipe Salgado
How everything began
The directors of the PRÓ-VIDA Club of Araçoiaba were touched by a message that circulated all around the city containing a request for help to care for Covid-19 patients in the municipality. The petition was sent by the Municipal Planning Secretary, connected to the Covid-19 Combat Committee. The directors contacted the Mayor, Dr. José Carlos de Quevedo Junior, to understand details of the situation and recommended that a petition should be formalized to CGD-PV, which would analyze the possibility of serving it in extraordinary character.
On March 26, CGD-PV received the request from the mayor describing the situation of service to Covid-19 patients, the project of transformation of the UBS into an Advanced Service Center and a list of specific hospital equipment needed.
A team of collaborators from CGD-PV worked together, looking for suppliers that could offer the requested materials within the market value and with immediate delivery. And so, complying with all the procedures of governance established by CGD-PV, they managed to acquire the entire list of materials requested.
In only seven days, the whole process was finalized and one more chapter in the history of CGD-PV was written.
